Frequently asked questions
Why can't I open HEIC files normally?
HEIC is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. Windows and most browsers cannot display it without an extra codec, which is why converting to JPG is usually the quickest fix for sharing photos.
Will my photos come out rotated?
No. The EXIF orientation flag is applied during decoding, so portrait photos stay portrait. Converters that skip this step are why photos so often end up sideways.
