Convert PDF to Word

Turn a PDF into an editable Word (.docx) document in your browser. Free, no signup, no upload, no page limit.

This extracts the text, not the layout. You get a fully editable Word document, but columns, tables, images and exact positioning are not reproduced. Faithful layout conversion needs desktop software — no website can do it in your browser, whatever it claims.

Drop a file, or click to choose

Your PDF is read on your own device and never uploaded.

How to use the PDF to Word

  1. 1

Drop your PDF in — it is read on your own device.

  2. 2

The text layer is extracted and written into a real .docx file.

  3. 3

Download and open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.

Frequently asked questions

Will it keep my original layout?

No, and you should be sceptical of any browser-based tool that claims otherwise. This extracts the text and gives you a clean, fully editable Word document, but columns, tables, images and exact positioning are not reproduced. True layout conversion needs LibreOffice or Acrobat running on a server — it is not something JavaScript can do.

It says no text was found — why?

Your PDF is a scan: a picture of a page with no text layer. Run it through the Image to Text tool first, which uses OCR to recognise the characters.

Is my data uploaded to a server?

No. Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your input never leaves your device and is never sent over the network, which means it is safe to paste production data, API responses and tokens.
